No one writes scripture as John does. Or rather, no one writes scripture as the Savior does. Can you see the fall of Babylon in the above verses? We begin in Chapter Six, the type, and proceed to the shadows in Chapters Eight, Twelve, Thirteen, and Eighteen.
- vv. 6:1-2, And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. 2And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
- v. 8:7, The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
- vv. 12:1-2, And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: 2And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
- v. 13:1, And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
- 18:2, And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
- Jesus opens the seals as he opens the book of life via his resurrection (Rev. 5:5). He has power and authority over the salvation and resurrection of man. His crown is the crown of authority, as he went forth conquering death when he resurrected himself. And he now goes forth to conquer all who oppose him, using his servant John, the bow. And the first to fall is Babylon.
- As you may recall, the angel in the Book of Revelation who does not have the loud and great voice is John. Thus, in Verse 8:7, John, having authority of God (Rev. 1:18), empowers hail, which is the false prophet of Rev. 13:11 (Rev. 9:1), and fire, which is the beast of Rev. 13:1, to rise up from mankind (blood). And they were cast upon the world stage of the earth. And a third of the followers of Jesus Christ, the trees (Rev. 7:1), and all the green grass of the world, followed the beast. From this we see that it is all in the Savior’s hands as he brings down Babylon via his judgment upon her (Rev. 19:1-3).
- And the government of the Savior’s church, the 144,000, were not yet called to her rescue. Be strong, brothers and sisters, they are coming to gather you (Rev. 13:10, Rev. 14:12).
- And John, having authority over the sea of mankind, standing on the sea of which the angel with the loud voice stood (Rev. 10:2), as he imparted authority to John via eating the little book (Rev. 10:8-10). “Saw” the beast (Rev. 6:8) rise up out of the sea of mankind, having a government of heads and horns, and upon these the false prophet of Rev. 13:11. These are European states as well as other nations around the world.
- And the angel of Rev. 10:1 cried with a strong voice, saying Babylon, the economic system has fallen. And now become a system of wicked devils (Rev. 17:12-13) as they work to institute the mark of the beast economic system (Rev. 13:1-18).
So it is, as the world reels to and fro from the wicked and horrific inhumanity of man, as Babylon, the economic system, falls. The transition to the mark of the beast economy is not immediate. And it is here that the second and third seals of Chapter Six occur (Rev. 6:3-6).
