✝️ Doctrinal Differences Between Biblical Christianity and Seventh-day Adventist
(Proving from the KJV Bible that Seventh-day Adventist doctrines are not scriptural)
📖 Introduction
🔹 A Brief History of Biblical Christianity
Biblical Christianity began in the first century A.D. when Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to redeem mankind through His death and resurrection. His apostles proclaimed the Gospel — that salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV).
Through the centuries, believers have held the Bible (God’s Word) as the final authority for faith and practice. The Protestant Reformation (1500s) reaffirmed the great doctrines of Sola Scriptura (Scripture alone) and Sola Fide (faith alone).
🔹 The Birth of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
The SDA movement arose from the Millerite movement in the 1840s, led by William Miller, who predicted Christ’s return in 1844 based on his reading of Daniel 8:14. When Jesus did not return — known as the Great Disappointment — when William Miller’s prediction failed because Jesus did not return, some followers reinterpreted the event and many were deceived again.
They began to claim that Christ entered a new phase of ministry in a “heavenly sanctuary” instead of coming to earth in flesh form. In 1863, the Seventh-day Adventist Church was officially organized, later guided by the false teachings and writings of Ellen G. White, whom they regard as a “prophetess” even till this day.
While the SDA church holds to many biblical truths but hold to many false doctrines of men. — They do have a belief in Christ, the Bible, and baptism — but also teach distinct doctrines that contradict clear KJV Scripture and doctrines, the the SDA also omit many of the teachings of Jesus like casting out of demons and spiritual gifts that are clear in the scriptures.
⚔️ Doctrinal Differences and Biblical Refutations (KJV)
1️⃣ The Sabbath Day (Saturday Observance)
🟤 SDA Teaching:
Christians must worship and rest on the seventh day (Saturday) as the true Sabbath; Sunday worship is the “mark of the beast.”
🟢 Bible Truth (KJV):
The New Testament gives believers liberty regarding holy days.
“Let no man therefore judge you… in respect of… the sabbath days.” — Colossians 2:16
“One man esteemeth one day above another… let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.” — Romans 14:5
✝️ Refutation:
Christians are not commanded to keep the Sabbath under the New Covenant. Early believers gathered on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7; 1 Cor 16:2). The Sabbath command was part of the Mosaic law given to Israel, not the Church.
2️⃣ Investigative Judgment & Heavenly Sanctuary (1844 Doctrine)
🟤 SDA Teaching:
In 1844, Christ began an “investigative judgment” in the heavenly sanctuary — examining believers’ records to determine who will be saved.
🟢 Bible Truth (KJV):
“By one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” — Hebrews 10:14
✝️ Refutation:
Christ’s atonement was finished on the cross, not in 1844. No verse supports a delayed “judgment phase.” Hebrews 9:12 says He entered “once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption.” The “investigative judgment” undermines the assurance of salvation and places unnecessary burdens on believers who place their faith in Christ Jesus the Lord.
3️⃣ The State of the Dead (“Soul Sleep”)
🟤 SDA Teaching:
When a person dies, they enter an unconscious “sleep” until the resurrection; the wicked will be destroyed and cease to exist, SDA do not believe in a literal place called Hell, so they teach that the “wicked or unbelieving” are never tormented in the fires of hell for an eternity. This false teaching that the SDA are teaching are leading many astray into thinking that God will not punish wicked persons or unbelievers who have rejected the only hope for all humanity which is Jesus Christ as their Savior.
🟢 Bible Truth (KJV):
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment.” — Matthew 25:46
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” — Matthew 10:28
“Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?” — Matthew 23:33
✝️ Refutation:
The saved are immediately granted eternal life; the lost suffer conscious, eternal punishment (Revelation 14:11). “Soul sleep” and ceasing to exist is not biblical, and annihilation of the wicked and unbelieving contradict truths found in Scripture.
4️⃣ The Law and the Gospel (Salvation by Works vs Grace)
🟤 SDA Teaching:
Keeping the Ten Commandments (especially the Sabbath) is required for salvation and marks God’s true people.
🟢 Bible Truth (KJV):
“For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works.” — Ephesians 2:8-9
“Christ is the end of the law for righteousness.” — Romans 10:4
✝️ Refutation:
Salvation is by grace alone, not commandment-keeping. Those who seek justification by law are “fallen from grace” (Galatians 5:4). The law reveals sin; only Christ saves.
5️⃣ Ellen G. White’s Prophecies
🟤 SDA Teaching:
Ellen White was God’s end-time prophet, and her writings carry divine authority as “the Spirit of Prophecy.”
🟢 Bible Truth (KJV):
“And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” — Revelation 19:10
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God…” — 2 Timothy 3:16
“Add thou not unto his words.” — Proverbs 30:6
“If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” — Isaiah 8:20
✝️ Refutation:
The canon of Scripture is complete. No modern “prophet” can add new revelation. Any message contradicting Scripture is false prophecy (Deuteronomy 18:20-22).
6️⃣ The “Remnant Church” Claim
🟤 SDA Teaching:
The SDA church alone is the “remnant” that keeps God’s commandments and has the spirit of prophecy.
🟢 Bible Truth (KJV):
“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body.” — 1 Corinthians 12:13
“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.” — 1 John 5:1
✝️ Refutation:
No denomination has exclusive claim to salvation. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. The true remnant is all believers born again by the Holy Spirit and faith in Christ. The SDA’s exclusivity claim is sectarian, and not bionically scriptural.
7️⃣ Dietary Restrictions and “Health Message”
🟤 SDA Teaching:
Believers should abstain from meat, coffee, tea, alcohol, and unclean foods; vegetarianism is spiritually preferred.
🟢 Bible Truth (KJV):
“For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused.” — 1 Timothy 4:4
“The kingdom of God is not meat and drink.” — Romans 14:17
“For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.” 1 Timothy 4:4-5
✝️ Refutation:
Christians are free to eat or abstain. Forbidding foods as a matter of righteousness contradicts the Scripture and reflects legalism, not grace and freedom in Christ.
8️⃣ The Nature of Christ and the Atonement
🟤 SDA Teaching:
Some SDA writings claim Christ took Adam’s fallen sinful nature, and His atonement was not completed until He entered the heavenly sanctuary.
🟢 Bible Truth (KJV):
“He knew no sin.” — 2 Corinthians 5:21
“It is finished.” — John 19:30
✝️ Refutation:
Jesus was sinless and perfect. The atonement was finished at Calvary, not continued later. Any doctrine implying otherwise diminishes the sufficiency of His sacrifice.
9️⃣ Hell and Eternal Punishment
🟤 SDA Teaching:
The wicked will be burned up and cease to exist; hell is not eternal.
🟢 Bible Truth (KJV):
“And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever.” — Revelation 14:11
“Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” — Mark 9:44
✝️ Refutation:
Hell is a literal geographical location prepared by God for eternal judgment, and conscious punishment. Jesus warned repeatedly about everlasting fire. The SDA teaching of annihilation softens the gravity of God’s judgment.
🔟 The Gospel Message Itself
🟤 SDA Teaching:
The everlasting gospel includes obedience to the law, Sabbath-keeping, and a “health message.”
🟢 Bible Truth (KJV):
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel… how that Christ died for our sins… and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day.” — 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
✝️ Refutation:
The true Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ — not dietary laws or Sabbaths. Adding requirements distorts the Gospel of grace (Galatians 1:8-9).

❤️ Final Call – Stand on the Word Alone
Dear reader, God’s Word is the final authority — not human traditions, prophets, or denominational rules and regulations.
