Adding to faith

I was reading 2 Peter 1-10 and truth be told I felt like it was aimed at how the Christian journey is like. The essence in this verse moved me because I often forget and move to prayer for a “quick fix”. Often times this method ends up being an outlet for me and I’m stuck in a loop. Reading a bible verse, being inspired, praying on it, professing to other people, how it’s helping me, but in the end I still feel empty.

Prayer and reading the Lords word is not something wrong. It’s actually a great way to build a relationship with Christ. However, what else am I doing apart from this to grow as a Christian? The answer is nothing and this explains my emptiness. I’m not moving ahead, I’m stuck on chapter 1 of my faith. I end up remaining stagnant and feeling comfortable with the knowledge I have. This verse opened my eyes because I’m not adding to my faith, which we’re all called to do as followers of Christ.

The verse is at it says, being saved and the proof of it, is how we live and carry ourselves. As to live is christ Philippians 1:21. Adding to my faith and making the effort of a being a vessel to truly show how glorious our Lord is.

As I try to move to different chapters of my relationship with Christ. I will ponder more deeply on the blessing of having Jesus in my life. What it means to be saved and as John Calvin explains “Purity of life is not improperly called the evidence and proof of election, by which the faithful may not only testify to others that they are the children of God, but also confirm themselves in this confidence.”
