God IS

THE ABSOLUTES OF GOD

What it means that God IS Spirit, Love, Faithful, Mighty, and Worthy

When Scripture says “God IS…”, it is not describing an attribute. It is revealing His essence, His nature, His being, and His unchanging identity. These are absolutes — not qualities He possesses, but realities He is.

GOD IS SPIRIT

John 4:24 (KJV) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

God is not material, limited, or confined. He is not bound by space, time, or physicality. Spirit means:

  • uncreated

  • invisible

  • eternal

  • unlimited

  • present everywhere

  • not composed of parts

  • not subject to decay

Spirit means God is the source of life, not a being who has life. Spirit means God is present, not located. Spirit means God is indwelling, not distant.

Because God is Spirit, He can dwell in us, fill us, speak to us, and unite with us.

GOD IS LOVE

1 John 4:8 (KJV) He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Love is not something God does. Love is what God is.

Love is His nature, His essence, His eternal posture. Love is the reason He creates, redeems, restores, forgives, and indwells.

Love means:

  • God is for us

  • God is toward us

  • God is not double‑minded

  • God does not change His mind

  • God does not withdraw Himself

  • God does not love conditionally

Love is not God’s reaction. Love is God’s identity.

Everything God does is an expression of who He is — Love.

GOD IS FAITHFUL

1 Corinthians 1:9 (KJV) God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Faithful means God cannot lie, cannot fail, cannot abandon, cannot break His word. Faithful means God is consistent, reliable, steady, unchanging.

Faithful means:

  • His promises stand

  • His covenant holds

  • His mercy endures

  • His grace remains

  • His calling is without repentance

  • His presence does not leave

Faithful is not God’s behavior. Faithful is God’s nature.

He is faithful because He is.

GOD IS MIGHTY

Jeremiah 32:18 (KJV) …the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name.

Mighty means God is unlimited in power, unstoppable in purpose, and sovereign in action. Mighty means nothing can resist Him, rival Him, or reduce Him.

Mighty means:

  • He creates by speaking

  • He sustains by willing

  • He rules without effort

  • He acts without strain

  • He accomplishes without assistance

Mighty is not God exerting Himself. Mighty is God simply being Himself.

GOD IS WORTHY

Revelation 4:11 (KJV) Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power…

Worthy means God is the source of all value, all goodness, all beauty, all truth. Worthy means He deserves worship not because of what He does, but because of who He is.

Worthy means:

  • He is the Creator

  • He is the Sustainer

  • He is the Redeemer

  • He is the Life‑giver

  • He is the Center of all things

Worthy is not a title given to Him. Worthy is His eternal identity.

THE CLEAN SUMMARY

  • God is Spirit — unlimited, eternal, indwelling, present.

  • God is Love — His essence, not His reaction.

  • God is Faithful — unchanging, reliable, covenant‑keeping.

  • God is Mighty — sovereign, unstoppable, all‑powerful.

  • God is Worthy — the source of all value and the object of all worship.

These are not attributes. These are absolutes. These are not descriptions. These are declarations of His being.

This is who God is — eternally, unchangingly, absolutely.
