Jesus Is Everything We Need

Discovering Who Jesus Christ Is to Every Believer
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

Introduction
There is no person who has ever lived like Jesus Christ. Kings have ruled nations, prophets have spoken God’s Word, priests have ministered before the Lord, and great men and women of faith have impacted generations. Yet none of them can compare to Jesus, for He alone is the Son of God, the Creator of all things, the Savior of the world, and the only Mediator between God and mankind.
Many people know Jesus only as the One who died on the cross for their sins. While this is the greatest demonstration of God’s love, the Bible reveals that Jesus is far more than our Savior alone. He is our closest Friend, our Elder Brother, our Good Shepherd, our Redeemer, our Advocate, our High Priest, our King, our Hope, our Peace, and so much more.
Every name given to Jesus reveals another aspect of His perfect character and His unending love for those who believe in Him. As we grow in our relationship with Christ, we discover that He is everything we need for every season of life. Whether we are rejoicing on the mountaintop or walking through the darkest valley, Jesus remains faithful.
Let us open God’s Word and discover the many wonderful ways Jesus reveals Himself to every believer.
Jesus Is Our Savior
The greatest need of every person is salvation. Sin separated humanity from God, and no amount of good works, religion, or personal effort could ever remove that barrier. Out of His great love, God sent His only begotten Son into the world to accomplish what no one else could.

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
Jesus willingly laid down His life upon the cross, shedding His precious blood so that everyone who repents and believes in Him can receive forgiveness and everlasting life.
John 3:16 (KJV)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Because Jesus is our Savior, we no longer stand condemned before God. We are forgiven, justified, adopted into His family, and given the promise of eternal life.
Jesus Is Our Friend
Friendship is one of life’s greatest blessings, yet every human friendship has limitations. Even the closest friends sometimes disappoint us. Jesus, however, is the Friend who never fails.
John 15:13-15 (KJV)
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you…
…I have called you friends.”
Jesus demonstrated the greatest act of friendship by laying down His life for us while we were still sinners.
He listens when we pray.
He comforts when we grieve.
He strengthens when we are weak.
He corrects us because He loves us.
Most importantly, He promises never to abandon His children.
Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)
“…I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
No earthly friend can make such a promise, but Jesus does—and He always keeps His Word.
Jesus Is Our Brother
One of the most beautiful truths in Scripture is that Jesus is not ashamed to call believers His brethren.

“…for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren.”
Paul also writes:

“…that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
Through faith in Christ, we have been adopted into the family of God. God becomes our Heavenly Father, believers become brothers and sisters in Christ, and Jesus is our Elder Brother who lovingly leads His family.
What an incredible privilege that the eternal Son of God welcomes us into His family by grace.
Jesus Is Our Lord
Receiving Jesus as Savior also means submitting to Him as Lord.
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Calling Jesus “Lord” means acknowledging His authority over every area of our lives. Our desires, ambitions, relationships, finances, ministries, and future belong to Him.
His Lordship is not burdensome—it is freeing, because the One who rules our lives loves us perfectly.
Jesus Is Our Good Shepherd
Jesus lovingly watches over His people just as a shepherd watches over his flock.
John 10:11 (KJV)
“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”
The Good Shepherd leads us beside still waters, restores our souls, protects us from spiritual danger, searches for those who wander, and carries the weak until they are strong again.
We never walk alone because our Shepherd walks before us.
Jesus Is Our Redeemer
The word redeem means to purchase back by paying a price.
Jesus redeemed us from the slavery of sin through His precious blood.
1 Peter 1:18-19 (KJV)
“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things… But with the precious blood of Christ…”
We were once prisoners of sin.
Now we belong to Christ forever.
Jesus Is Our Advocate
Even after salvation, believers sometimes stumble. Satan is called the accuser of the brethren, but Jesus stands before the Father as our Advocate.

“…if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”
Our confidence does not rest in our own perfection but in Christ’s perfect righteousness and His finished work upon the cross.
Jesus Is Our Great High Priest
Unlike the priests of the Old Testament who continually offered sacrifices, Jesus offered Himself once and for all.

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest… Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace…”
Because Jesus understands every temptation, sorrow, disappointment, and hardship we face, we can approach God’s throne with confidence, knowing He hears us and extends mercy and grace.
Jesus Is Our Mediator
Sin separated mankind from God, but Jesus bridged that separation.
1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV)
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
There is no other mediator, no other sacrifice, and no other way to the Father except through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Is Our King
Jesus is not merely a King of history—He is the reigning King of heaven.
Revelation 19:16 (KJV)
“KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Every kingdom of this world will one day pass away, but Christ’s Kingdom will endure forever.
Jesus Is Our Bridegroom
The Church is described throughout Scripture as the Bride of Christ.
Ephesians 5:25-27 (KJV)
“Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.”
Just as a bride eagerly waits for her bridegroom, believers eagerly await the return of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Is Our Light
John 8:12 (KJV)
“I am the light of the world…”
Jesus exposes darkness, reveals truth, and guides every believer along the path of righteousness.
Jesus Is Our Peace
John 14:27 (KJV)
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you…”
The peace Christ gives is not dependent upon circumstances. It is the settled assurance that God is in control.
Jesus Is Our Hope
1 Peter 1:3 (KJV)
“…begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
Because Christ conquered death, believers have an eternal hope that can never perish.
Jesus Is the Bread of Life
John 6:35 (KJV)
“I am the bread of life…”
Only Jesus satisfies the deepest hunger of the human soul.
Jesus Is the Living Water
John 4:14 (KJV)
“…the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
Christ alone satisfies the spiritual thirst that nothing else in this world can quench.
Jesus Is the Way, the Truth, and the Life

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Jesus is not one of many ways to God. He is the only way.
Jesus Is the Vine
John 15:5 (KJV)
“I am the vine, ye are the branches…”
Every believer draws spiritual life, strength, and fruitfulness by abiding in Christ.
Jesus Is Our Foundation and Cornerstone
1 Corinthians 3:11 (KJV)
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
Ephesians 2:20 (KJV)
“…Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone.”
Our faith, our families, our churches, and our future must all be firmly established upon Jesus Christ.
Jesus Is the Alpha and Omega
Revelation 22:13 (KJV)
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
He existed before creation, rules over history, and will reign forever.
Jesus Is the Lamb of God and the Lion of the Tribe of Judah
Jesus first came as the spotless Lamb who willingly gave His life for the sins of the world.
John 1:29 (KJV)
“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
Yet the same Jesus is also the victorious Lion.
Revelation 5:5 (KJV)
“Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed…”
He conquered sin, death, hell, and the grave, and one day every knee shall bow before Him.
Jesus Is Our Example
1 Peter 2:21 (KJV)
“Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.”
Jesus demonstrated perfect love, humility, compassion, forgiveness, holiness, obedience, and faithfulness. Every believer is called to become more like Him each day through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Is Our Soon Coming King
One of the greatest promises given to believers is that Jesus Christ is coming again. His first coming was in humility, wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. He came as the suffering Servant, rejected by many, crucified for our sins, and raised again in victory over death.
His second coming will be altogether different.
Jesus will return in power, glory, and majesty as the victorious King of kings and Lord of lords. Every eye shall see Him. Every knee shall bow before Him. Every tongue shall confess that He is Lord.
John 14:3 (KJV)
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
The angels also proclaimed this wonderful promise after Jesus ascended into heaven.
Acts 1:10-11 (KJV)
“Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
The Apostle Paul encouraged believers with the blessed hope of Christ’s return.
Titus 2:13 (KJV)
“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”
The Apostle John was given a glorious vision of our returning King.
Revelation 19:11-16 (KJV)
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True… And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
For the believer, the return of Jesus is not something to fear—it is our greatest hope. The One who is our Savior, Friend, Brother, Shepherd, Advocate, Redeemer, and Lord is preparing to return for His people. Therefore, let us remain faithful, watchful, and ready, sharing the Gospel until He comes.
Conclusion
The more we know Jesus Christ, the more we realize that He is everything we will ever need. He is our Savior when we need forgiveness, our Friend when we feel alone, our Brother who welcomes us into God’s family, our Shepherd who guides us, our Redeemer who purchased us with His blood, our Advocate who intercedes for us, our High Priest who understands our weaknesses, our King who reigns forever, and our Soon Coming King who will one day return in glory.
May our hearts never grow cold toward Him, and may our lives reflect our love for Him. Until that glorious day when faith becomes sight, let us walk closely with Jesus, trust Him completely, obey Him faithfully, and proclaim Him boldly to a world that desperately needs Him.
