Song of Solomon, Chapter 1

Song of Solomon, Chapter 1

I would like to thank Brother Shad for calling my attention to the Song of Solomon, which is about the latter-day Davidic King. I have never read this work by Solomon. It has never interested me. But wow, it is such a beautiful work. Following is Chapter One of the Song of Solomon, including my interpretation.

1The song of songs , which is Solomon’s (The prayer of prayers, which is the Davidic King’s)

2Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth for thy love is better than wine:(Let Lord Jesus call me with the calling of his DK for Jesus love is better than salvation.)

3Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee. (Because the servants desire to serve the Savior whom they love.

4Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee. (Choose me, we will run after thee; Lord Jesus has brought me into his service, we will be glad and rejoice in his service, we will remember Jesus’ love more than salvation.)

5I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. (I am hidden but here, O ye servants and saints of God.)

6Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept. (You can not see me, because the Savior has hidden me. The saints are angry with me in my service, but God has chosen me. But my servants have I not kept.)

The DK speaks to Jesus (Chiasmus Center)

7Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions? (Tell me O Lord Jesus, where the saints and servants are, that I should be known to them.)

Jesus speaks to his saints and his servants.

8If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds’ tents. (O saints, go forth by the footsteps of the servants and feed your children beside their tents.)

9I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh’s chariots. (I have compared you, O my servants, to a company of horses leading the saints of God).

10Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold. (Your cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, your neck with chains of gold.)

11We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver. (The DK and I will make you borders of gold with studs of silver.

12While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof. (While the DK sits at his table, my ointment sends forth the fragrance of my anointing.)

13A bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts. (The DK is my anointed resting on my chest. John 13:23)

14My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of Engedi.(John is as fire in the vineyard of the earth.)

15Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes.

16Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green. (Behold, your countenance is fair and pleasant, and the saints and servants are ready.)

17The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters of fir. (The servants of our house are as the cedars of Lebanon, the finest of all, and the saints of God are as the fir, the finest as well.)

An awesome chapter where the Savior interacts with John, the servants, and the saints of God.
