Song of Solomon, Chapter 7
I hope you enjoy my interpretation of Chapter Seven, which is about the church of God after the seven years of tribulation and judgment.
Jesus admires the church of God.
1How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince’s daughter! the joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman. (The chapter begins with a description of the church of God. O prince’s daughter is the DK’s daughter. It is she who has gone through the tribulation.)
2Thy navel is like a round goblet, which wanteth not liquor: thy belly is like an heap of wheat set about with lilies. (The descriptive metaphors continue. The navel is like a round goblet wanting no liquor, showing her sober mind and clean thoughts. The belly, like a heap of wheat set about with lilies, shows that she is the harvested saints of God.)
3Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins. (Two breasts like young roes showing the vitality of her new youth. She has clearly gone through the tribulation and judgment years, and is upon the earth revitalized.)
4Thy neck is as a tower of ivory; thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bathrabbim: thy nose is as the tower of Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus. (Thy neck, eyes, and nose are like a tower of ivory, fishpools Heshbon, and tower of Lebanon, showing the strength of her countenance.)
5Thine head upon thee is like Carmel, and the hair of thine head like purple; the king is held in the galleries. (Her head is like Carmel. This metaphor represents Jesus Christ. Thus, her DK is like Jesus. The anointed hair of the DK is purple, the color of kings. And the DK is held in high esteem.)
6How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights! (How fair and pleasant you are, O love, my church.)
Jesus compares the church of God to his DK.
7This thy stature is like to a palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters of grapes. (Your stature is like the DK, and your breasts like a cluster of gathered saints.)
8I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples; (I said, I will go up to the DK and live upon the earth. Your gathered saints are the fruit of the tree.)
9And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak. (And your words of sacrament are rewards for my DK, who causes the saints who have passed to speak. This is the time of the resurrection.)
10I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me. (I Jesus Christ am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me.)
Jesus speaks to the DK about the church of God.
11Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages. (Come, my DK, let us go forth throughout the earth and lodge in the villages.)
12Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves. (Let us, DK and I, get up early to the vineyards of the earth, to see the saints flourish. There I will give you my saints.)
13The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved. (At our gates are all manner of saints that I have saved for you, O my beloved DK.)
