Jesus The True Light

2 Peter 1:19
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; where unto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
the day star is [the] “morning star” or “Bright and Morning Star”
The very word “morning star” in the original Greek which means:
phósphoros: meaning Light-bringer, Morning Star

NASB: morning star
In the book of Revelation Jesus identifies himself as the “BRIGHT” and morning star.
Revelation 22:16
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
What Jesus was declaring to us in scripture is that He is the light bringer that illuminates the world.
In the gospel of John we are told that the man Jesus is the “light” who was born of the virgin Mary by the seed of God that was conceived in her, and this light [JESUS] came into the world to condemn the evil deeds of mankind because their deeds were evil.
John 3:19
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
The state or condition of man is evil, for this reason God sent His only begotten Son Jesus into a dark world on a mission to destroy evil out of the hearts of men. This light who is Jesus, condemns all evil deeds or “works” of mankind, and shines bright deep into the hearts of man illuminating all the darkness that is within men.
God is Holy, and Sin is evil because to God sin causes spiritual darkness, this is why Jesus came and died for the sins of the world. All of mankind is in complete darkness until the “light” shines and arises in their heart. Only God could help and deliver anyone by sending His Son Jesus Christ into their darkness so that His light could drive out the darkness.
The devil not only deceived mankind when Adam and Eve were deceived by Satan in the garden of Eden, but they also entered into a spiritual state of complete darkness when they sinned against God. The Father God not only knew that this would happen to mankind, but also offers hope when anyone would call upon the name of Jesus so that His light would begin to shine in their hearts and expels whatever darkness is present within them.
The light of Jesus shining into the “heart” of men destroys the darkness, and their dark deeds that Satan has ensnared them with. This is also why Jesus (the light bearer) has come into this world.
1 John 3:8
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
There are presently two lights shining in this world. One is Jesus who is the “true light” that is shining.
John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
The other is a light is “Licifer” that is also working evil in the hearts of men.
The word “Lucifer” comes from 2 Latin words: Lux (=light) + ferous ( = to bear or carry). Thus the name “Lucifer” means: Light-bearer or Light-bringer.
In Biblical/Theological Terms:
In the New Testament (2 Peter 1:19), the word is translated as “day star” or “morning star” to symbolize the dawning of spiritual understanding and divine revelation in a believer’s heart. This of course is Jesus Christ.
John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Jesus is the “bright” and morning star!
Lucifer (the devil or Satan) on the other hand is also a light, but not the “true” light of the world.
Because Lucifer or Satan is identified by Jesus in the gospel of John as a liar and the father of lies that is not in the truth, Satan is a fallen angel that was self deceived and masquerades pretending to be the true light to human beings in the world.
John 8:44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
In scripture we re taught that Satan was thrown out of heaven and was cast down to the earth, this is where the devil is masquerading to deceive the entire world as if he were God but Satan is not God.
Revelation 12
7And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Revelation 12
11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 12Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Lucifer the devil or Satan is mentioned in Isaiah chapter fourteen verse twelve as the sun of the morning, but Jesus is the “bright and morning star” that brings the true light into the world. God tells Lucifer that he will be cut down to the ground for weakening the nations with all sorts of deceptions.
Isaiah 14:12
“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!”
When Jesus came to the earth in the man Jesus the Christ, it was God Himself manifested in the flesh to bring light into the darkness that Lucifer caused upon all of humanity. The light of God shines through the Lord Jesus Christ as the only Hope and Savior of the world.
God is the Father of lights (plural), plural because when Jesus came to this earth, the light of God was now present in the earth, and His light is present to enter into the heart of anyone who will receive the Son of God Jesus.
James 1:17
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
When the light of the Father enters into ones heart, their spirit become like a candle to the Lord. The light of God begins to shine within them to bring them out of the darkness that Lucifer had on them. They get transformed from darkness to light. Their eyes receive light.
Proverbs 20:27
“The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.”
Jesus came to save the lost and spiritually blind from darkness to light in order to receive forgivness.
Acts 26:18
“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”
Once a person is transformed by the light of Jesus, they are no longer spiritually blind and become a child of God by faith in Jesus the Son of God. The light of God shines within them so the world can see they belong to God, this is why Jesus said “you are the light of the world” in the gospel of Matthew.
Matthew 5:14
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”
In heaven there is no need for the sun or the moon because Jesus is present and his very presence provides all of the light.
Revelation 21:23
“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”
The earth is full of darkness, but when you believe and receive Jesus Christ in your heart light enters your entire being and you begin to come out of the darkness. You become transformed by the renewing of your mind and the unveiling begins.
2 Corinthians 3:18
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
The glory of the Lord is the very presence of Jesus in us and with us when we believed in the perfect work of God when He sent His only begotten Son Jesus into the world.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Have you received the light of the Father into your heart? Receive Jesus and His light will enter you, save you, and direct all of your paths!
Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”
PRAYER:
Father God, I ask you this day to let your light shine upon me all the days of my life so that you may direct all of my paths, and that I may have eternal life through the Lord Jesus Christ. – Amen
