Whereas the seals storyline (Ch. 5-8) uniquely shows the power and authority down line from the Father to the 144,000 as well as to the beast with his false prophet. And the Trumpets storyline (Ch. 8-11) uniquely shows secondarily the judgment harmonizing with Chapter Sixteen. Third in the series is this mark of the beast storyline(Ch. 12-16), having two supporting chapters, the first (Ch. 13) showing how the beast uses his appointed authority, and the second (Ch. 14) showing how the 144,000 use their appointed authority in response.
Again, all four storylines harmonize together, each focusing on different areas. The first was the 144,000 of Chapter Seven. The second was focused on John eating the little book in Chapter Ten. And now the third is focused on the beast and his false prophet in Chapter Thirteen and how they interact with the 144,000 in Chapter Fourteen. And the fourth storyline focuses on the capture of Lucifer in Chapter Twenty and the thousand-year reign of the Savior.
Another interesting detail is that this third storyline does not have the two-threaded aspects characteristically observed in tandem in the first and second storylines. But these threads follow each other as Chapter Thirteen is followed by Chapter Fourteen.
Also, the aside itself (Ch. 13-14) has three smaller asides embedded. The structure is as follows:
vv. 13:1-10, the aside part 1
…..vv. 13:11-18, the mark of the beast proper, the first subordinate aside.
……….vv. 14:1-5, the Savior standing with his 144,000, the second subordinate aside
…..vv. 14:6-11, the judgment proper, the third subordinate aside
vv. 14:12-20, the aside part 2
So basically, Chapter Twelve is represented in Chapters Thirteen and Fourteen and vice versa. Additionally, Chapter Fifteen is the midpoint, harmonizing with Rev. 8:2-6. Also, Chapter Sixteen is the 3.5-year judgment that follows the 3.5-year tribulation in Chapters Twelve, Thirteen, and Fourteen.
