‘For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. ‘

• H̲i̲s̲t̲o̲r̲i̲c̲a̲l̲ ̲B̲a̲c̲k̲g̲r̲o̲u̲n̲d̲📜: The book of Jeremiah was written by prophet Jeremiah as a letter to the Jews living in exile, in Babylon, around 597BC. During that period, the Israelites had been going through a deep crisis, having lost their homes, their temple and above all their freedom. As foreigners living in a pagan land, they felt abandoned by God. Not only that, but there were also false prophets preaching lies, about how God will come and destroy Babylon very soon, when Jeremiah actually revealed something totally different.
• C͟o͟n͟t͟e͟x͟t͟✍️: In the previous verses leading up to verse 11 (1-10), we notice a shocking fact about God’s response to this terrible situation. In verses 4-7, God commands the Israelites not to prepare for a rebellion and bloody fight, but rather to build houses and settle in that foreign land, to plant gardens and eat what they produce, to marry and multiply (Genesis 1:28). The cherry on top? To PRAY for the city of Babylon, as its prosperity meant the prosperity of theirs. Incredible, right? Later on, in verses 8-9, God goes on to warn His people about false prophets, and to not believe in them, as they aren’t from Him. Lastly, in verse 10 He makes a promise that after a period of 70 years, God Himself will lead Israelites back to their homeland.
• I͟n͟t͟e͟r͟p͟r͟e͟t͟a͟t͟i͟o͟n͟📌: The highlighted verse, is personally one of the favorites in the whole Bible, as well as one of the most promising and hopeful ones. God directly says to His people, including you right now, that He knows His plans for you and your life very well, and He does not wish for your destruction, but your success and well-being. He is working at all times to give you the future you’re hoping for and which He has revealed to your heart. His intentions behind everything that He allows you to go through are nothing but pure, honest, genuine. You may not understand now, but you soon will (John 13:7), and you shall see that God knew all along, from the beginning of this universe, all the kinds of problems, struggles and hardships you would endure. And it was ultimately for the best, not the worst (Romans 8:28).

Truly there are several ways to apply this in your daily life. But the best one is two words: Trust God. Trust in His timing, in His sovereignty, in His love and goodness. I personally felt that He delayed many blessings in my life, but He wasn’t punishing me, but preparing me for them. God can find a way for anything, as long as it’s His will. And His will is perfect, holy, unchanging. Therefore, stop questioning God and His divine purpose for your life, for He knows what you deal with every day, and is planning, even at this moment, a bright, lovely future for you, in which you will prosper and be eternally fulfilled.

Heavenly Father,
Now it’s time we put matters not in our hands, but in Yours. Now we completely and entirely surrender our lives, career, relationships, aspirations, desires and our existence to You. We pray that you help us trust and lean on You for everything, and that we are patient throughout the season of waiting and preparation, as we believe that it is worth it. Worth the pain, the tears, the endless work. Our Lord, be with us in every moment, and remind us who You are, so we never doubt You and Your intentions, but always put our hope and faith in You, our Father in Heaven.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
