What Did Jesus Really Look Like? (KJV Biblical Truth)
By Pastor Joel – Open Heaven Christian Church – Fisher, Arkanss
When studying the appearance of Jesus Christ, the King James Bible provides clarity—not through detailed physical features, but through powerful spiritual truth.
No Outward Beauty
“For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant… he hath no form nor comeliness… no beauty that we should desire him.” (Isaiah 53:2, KJV)
This reveals that Jesus was not physically remarkable or attractive by worldly standards.
A Man of Sorrows
“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief.” (Isaiah 53:3, KJV)
His face would reflect suffering, compassion, and endurance—not worldly pride.
His Lineage
“…of the seed of David according to the flesh.” (Romans 1:3, KJV)
Jesus was a Middle Eastern Jewish man, not a European depiction often seen in art.
Hair and Culture
“If a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?” (1 Corinthians 11:14, KJV)
This suggests His hair was likely moderate and practical, not excessively long.
Revelation Description (Symbolic)
“His head and his hairs were white like wool… his feet like unto fine brass…” (Revelation 1:14–15, KJV)
These describe His glorified form—not His earthly body.
While no one really knows what Jesus looked like, we can only guess based on scripture provided in the bible. One day everyone will see Jesus returning and everyone will know his true appearance. – 1 John 3:2 “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.“
