“God Will Have His Way”
By Pastor Joel – Open Heaven Christian Church – Fisher, Arkansas
Theme: The Absolute Sovereignty and Authority of God
Focus: God’s unstoppable will in heaven, earth, and in the hearts of men
Key Verse:
Psalm 115:3 – “But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.”
🕊️ I. God’s Sovereignty Over All Creation
✦ Psalm 135:5–7
“For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.
Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.”
🔍 Insight: God is not just present in the world—He commands it. Every element obeys His voice.
✦ Isaiah 46:9–10
“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying,
My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”
🔥 Truth: God’s plans were set before time and nothing can interfere with His ultimate purpose.
🛡️ II. God Overrules the Plans of Men
✦ Proverbs 19:21
“There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.”
✦ Proverbs 16:9
“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.”
✦ Job 42:2
“I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.”
📖 Reflection: Human ambition, strategies, or rebellion cannot override God’s eternal plan.
⚖️ III. God’s Authority in Judgment and Mercy
✦ Romans 9:14–18
“What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.”
🕯️ Wisdom: God’s dealings with individuals and nations are not up for human judgment. He has righteous reasons beyond our understanding.
🌊 IV. God’s Way in Nature and the Elements
✦ Nahum 1:3–5
“The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm,
and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.”
🌪️ Takeaway: Even the fiercest storms are under God’s sovereign feet.
✝️ V. God’s Will Through Jesus Christ
✦ Luke 22:41–42
“And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”
✦ John 6:38–39
“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.”
🙏 Lesson: Even Christ fully submitted Himself to the Father’s will—teaching us perfect obedience.
💡 VI. God’s Will Cannot Be Resisted Forever
✦ Acts 5:38–39
“And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone:
for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.”
⚔️ Warning: Resisting God’s will is a battle no man can win.
🙌 VII. God’s Purpose in Your Life Will Stand
✦ Psalm 37:5
“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
✦ Romans 8:28
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
🌟 Encouragement: If you are in Christ, God will have His way for your good—even in suffering.
🔥 Conclusion: God Always Has His Way
Isaiah 14:24 – “The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying,
Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:”
🕊️ Whether in nature, nations, the church, or your personal life—God is having His way. He rules, overrules, and brings all things to His determined end.
