“They Have Healed Also the Hurt of My People Slightly” — A Biblical Look at Healing, Deliverance, and Truth.

Context: Jeremiah 6:14 (KJV)

“They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.”

Introduction

In today’s Christian world, many believers are being taught to confess healing, declare they are healed, or act healed—even while they continue to remain sick, suffer in their bodies, and require ongoing medical treatment. The problem is not that God cannot heal—He absolutely is our Healer.

“And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.” – Exodus 15:26 (KJV).

The problem is that many believers are being taught a confession-based healing that does not deal with the real root of the issue: their need for deliverance.

Just as in Jeremiah’s day, leaders were proclaiming “Peace, peace” when there was no peace, today many proclaim “You are healed!” when the evidence shows that the healing has not come. The Bible gives us the real reason why many remain unhealed: because the true source of their affliction has not been addressed – “deliverance from demons that have caused sickness and diseases”.

Jesus Taught and Demonstrated Healing Through Deliverance

One of the clearest biblical examples is found in Luke 13:10-17, where Jesus healed a woman who had been sick for eighteen years. But Jesus did not merely heal her—He cast out a spirit of infirmity out of her.

Luke 13:10-17 (KJV) – Full Passage

10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day…
16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

This woman was a Jew, a daughter of Abraham, faithful in synagogue attendance. Yet everyone around her—teachers, leaders, religious authorities, her friends at the temple — failed to discern the spiritual cause of her sickness for 18 long years.

Yes they saw a sickness, they all knew she was sick but did nothing to help her get free from the “evil spirit” that attacked her body and made her sick.

Jesus saw the woman and the demon that caused her infirmity and dealt with it as her needing deliverance from demons — (v. 12) “And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.”

What did Jesus “loose her from? — A demon spirit that had her bound to her sickness.

Jesus Healed Multitudes By Casting Out Devils

Matthew 8:16 (KJV)

“When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick.”

Scripture doesn’t say Jesus prayed healing prayers over them first.
It says He “cast out spirits”, and then they were healed.

This is a pattern, not an exception.

Examples of Healing That Came Through Deliverance

1. Dumb Man Healed After Demon Cast Out

Matthew 9:32–33 (KJV)

32 As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.
33 And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled…

The cause of the sickness: a devil.
The cure that brought them their healing: deliverance.

2. Blind and Dumb Man Healed After Demon Cast Out

Matthew 12:22 (KJV)

“Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.”

Again, the physical symptoms were tied to demonic oppression and infirmity.

3. Lunatic Boy Delivered and Healed

Matthew 17:14–18 (KJV)

15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed…
18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

Jesus addressed the spiritual source first—and the healing followed.

4. The Gadarene Man Delivered (Mental/Self-harm Issues)

Mark 5:2–15 (KJV)
The man lived among tombs, cut himself, cried continually, and had supernatural strength.
After Jesus cast out the spirits:

“…they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil… sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind…” (v. 15)

Deliverance restored his mind, identity, personality, and health.

5. Woman With Divination Spirit — (Witchcraft & Occult) Freed

Acts 16:16–18 (KJV)
While not a sickness, it shows the reality of spiritual torment:

“I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.”

Deliverance Requires Humility — A Surrender of ones “Spiritual Dignity”

Deliverance is not for the proud.
It is for the humble, the broken, the desperate, and the honest.

James 4:6 (KJV)

“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”

Psalm 34:18 (KJV)

“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”

Proverbs 29:23 (KJV)

“… honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.”

1 Peter 5:6 (KJV)

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.”

Deliverance requires admitting:
“Lord, I need help. I cannot fix this myself.”

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” — 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)

This is the breaking of what is called “spiritual dignity”—the pride that refuses to acknowledge spiritual bondage and refuses to admit that they are sick and in need of the great physician Jesus!

“And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.” — Luke 5:31 (KJV)

Anyone who refuses to admit the possibility of spiritual or demonic oppression remains bound until they are free, this is exactly what Jesus taught in scripture.

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” — John 8:36 (KJV)

Friends, are you sick in body? Is your soul vexed to the point of having anxiety or depression? Are you willing to humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, or is your spiritual dignity not allowing you to receive deliverance from the demonic because your ashamed of what others might think about you?

Let me encourage you with what the Apostle Paul said in the scriptures.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” — Romans 1:16 (KJV)

In the Greek, the word “Salvation” in Romans 1:16 also means “Deliverance and Health”, and oftentimes demons are the root cause of sickness.

Not All Sickness Is Caused by Demons

Scripture is clear:
Some sickness is natural—at birth, injury, accidents, age, or bodily weakness.

Jesus Himself taught this in John 9:1–3, where the man born blind was not demonized, but his condition existed for God’s glory and Jesus healed the blind man.

For example, if a person trips and breaks a toe, that does not automatically mean a demon caused it or they have a demon.

Wisdom and balance are essential in walking with the Lord. Some folks need to apply a little common sense to be able to differentiate the natural from the spiritual.

Acts: Many Were Healed Through Deliverance

Acts 5:16 (KJV)

“There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.”

The ones vexed with unclean spirits were healed—healing
because the spiritual root cause was addressed and dealt with by casting out the demon.

Acts 8:6–7 (KJV)

6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake…
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many… and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

Here again is the order in which God set for healing in many cases found in scripture —
Deliverance came first.
Healing came second.

Why Many Christians Do Not Receive or Have Not Received Their Healing Today…

1. They confess healing but ignore deliverance.

2. They deny spiritual warfare, even though Jesus emphasized it. (John 10:10).

3. They listen to teachers who offer “slight healing” (Jeremiah 6:14) without dealing with the spiritual roots of the sickness or diseases.

4. They cling to pride or fear instead of embracing humility and repentance.

5. They accept a false theology that Jesus never preached.

Jesus never told anyone:
“Confess you are healed until it happens.”

He commanded:
Jesus taught “Go, and sin no more.” (John 5:14)
Jesus spoke to the demons and said “Come out of him.” (Mark 1:25)
Jesus loosed a woman who was bound by an evil spirit and said “Be loosed from thine infirmity.” (Luke 13:12)

Deliverance ministry is not optional—it is the foundation of Jesus’ healing ministry. Many today either ignore it entirely, or they simply have never been taught about deliverance in their churches because their pastor’s do not teach, preach, or believe in deliverance. The sad truth is that many in the churches are still sick while “confessing” they are healed.

Conclusion: Return to the Ministry Jesus Demonstrated

Jeremiah 6:14 warns us against accepting surface-level healing—religious words without real transformation.

Today the Church must return to the pattern Jesus revealed:

• Discern spirits

• Cast out devils

• Then healing flows

This is not spectacular—it is biblical Christianity and these “signs” are not following many who say they are believers. Look at what Jesus said in the gospel of Mark before Jesus ascended into heaven. Jesus entrusted deliverance from demons as part of ministry when preaching the gosple to all nations.

“17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” — Mark 16:17-18 (KJV)

Interestingly enough, the Lord “confirmed the miraculous signs” that would follow them that believe…

“19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” — Mark 16:19-20 (KJV)

Many are confessing healing but remaining sick because they have never been delivered by receiving deliverance from demons. But when believers humble themselves, surrender all pride, and cry out for mercy, Jesus still sets captives free, heals the broken, and restores the oppressed.

“18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” — Luke 4:18 (KJV)

• Healing is real.

• Deliverance is real.

• Jesus still does both—when we follow His pattern, His will and not our preconceived ideas about healing.

Brothers and Sisters, if you are sick in your body, mind, or spirit, don’t just confess you are healed, receive deliverance by calling on the Lord and ask him to deliver you today.
