The God Who Brings It to Pass — and Bears No Blame
Before the first dawn broke over the waters, the Lord had already spoken the end from the beginning. Not as a seer guessing at shadows, but as the Maker who shapes the light itself. “I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all My purpose’” (Isaiah 46:9–10).
He is not restless because He is uncertain — He is restless because His worthiness is alive, His reign is not idle. The Almighty does not wait for man’s permission to act. “Our God is in the heavens; He does all that He pleases” (Psalm 115:3). His will is not a forecast; it is the engine of reality.
When the serpent stood in Eden, it was not an intrusion but an element of the plan. When Satan stood before the throne to accuse Job, it was God who began the conversation: “Have you considered My servant Job?” (Job 1:8). The adversary moves only within the leash God measures out.
And yet — there is no blame to lay at His feet. “Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?” (Genesis 18:25). His holiness is unblemished; His purposes are pure. The clay cannot accuse the Potter of injustice (Romans 9:20–21). What He ordains, He ordains without error, without cruelty, without the stain of sin.
This is not about who “deserves” what. If it were, none could stand. “There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10). The contrast of His love is this: He accepts us not according to our deeds, but according to Jesus — “not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy” (Titus 3:5). Our standing is not earned; it is given. “For by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8–9).
The nations rage, kings plot, and men boast of their power, but “The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He frustrates the plans of the peoples. The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations” (Psalm 33:10–11).
This is not the cold determinism of a machine, nor the chaos of chance. It is the ordered Kingdom of a living King — One who plants, uproots, wounds, heals, raises up, and casts down according to His own perfect design. “I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the LORD, who does all these things” (Isaiah 45:7).
To think we can move Him, alter His design, or surprise His counsel is the oldest illusion — the whisper from the tree in the garden. But the truth is this: “He works all things according to the counsel of His will” (Ephesians 1:11). Not some things. Not most things. All things.
And so the rail is laid, the Kingdom is ordered, the King is blameless, and the only reason we are welcomed into His courts is because the Son stands in our place.
