YOUR SPOKEN WORDS CAN CURSE YOU OR BRING LIFE TO YOU
By Pastor Joel – Open Heaven Christian Church – Fisher, Arkansas
The words you speak will either bring the promises of God, healing, and blessings into your life, or it can bring the direct opposite of what God’s word says. Your spoken words will bring life or destruction into your life.
The word of God emphasizes the power of the tongue and confession of His Word.
Whatever words are stored in your heart and mind are what you will speak according to Jesus…
Matthew 12:34 “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
By nature all people are are evil according to Jesus, and by nature of our carnal being there is not one good person on the earth. Because of our fallen sinful nature, we all have been programmed to speak words that bring death and destruction until we come to Christ and have are minds “renewed” by the word of God and the Holy Spirit teaching us to only speak words that bring life and blessings once we understand the importance of the power of spoken words as taught in the scriptures.
Mark 10:18 “And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.”
By nature we were all born in sin and our minds can only speak what is in our hearts. The bible teaches us that we all must so be “transformed by the renewing of our mind” so we can begin to speak words of life and the promises of God that we speak can be manifested in our lives, this is the perfect proven will of God for every believer in Christ Jesus!
Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.“
When you repented of your sins and asked God to forgive you, you become born again. You become a “new-creation” in Christ Jesus but now your mind needs to be renewed or reprogrammed with how God thinks of you. The thoughts and words you have always spoken before coming to Christ needs a transformation so the will of God can come to pass in your life. You need to replace the old way of thinking and talking with the new creation way of thinking and speaking in accordance to the will of God as taught in the scriptures.
The first thing we must understand in order to have this new transformation is we must do what the scriptures teaches, we must “put-off” the old conversational way of speaking and “put-on” the new man which is created in the image of God and begin speaking what God says and how God thinks.
Ephesians 4:22-24
“23 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
Philippians 2:15 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”
The old man (before Christ) has always spoken words that lead to destruction, sicknesses, poverty, fear, doubts, anxiety, and will always speak words of the worse case scenarios into your life. This was our “old-nature” and the sad truth is that many Christians today are not aware that this old nature needs to be renewed so they live their lives speaking words that are contrary to the promises of God and His blessings that God has already provided in the word of God.
When you speak words that contradict the word of God, you CAN NOT obtain any of the promises of blessings of God. You are hindering the Holy Spirit from working in your life until you learn to speak words that not only please God, but line-up with the perfect will of God. God only responds to FAITH in His word, and God rewards those who seek God out of obedience to his written word by faith.
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
No one can approach God in prayers that are void of faith and expect any of the blessings or promises of God. You must approach God in faith in accordance to His word or you will not receive anything from the Lord when you pray. Keep in mind that if your mind is not renewed by the word of God you will never pray the perfect will of God as it is written and you will struggle with unbelief and waiver in your faith.
James 1:6-8 “6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
The sad truth is that most people are praying “vain repetitious prayers” that cannot be answered because their prayers are NOT glorifying God and are void of faith and what God has already promised in His word.
For example: If a person is praying “Lord heal my body from this sickness”, this is a prayer that does NOT glorify God because they are asking amiss. God views your healing as already paid for when Jesus died for your sins on the cross so it would be impossible for God to answer a prayer made with doubt of what Jesus has already paid for on the cross. Jesus has already paid for your healing as it is written in scriptures.
The way God views healing for anyone is in the “present and past tense” not as a “future event” so asking God to heal you is praying amiss and void of any faith in God and His word. This is how God views healing for anyone that is sick and needing healing — according to God and His word God views healing as a past and present event.
Isaiah 53:5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” – [Healing is a present event].
1 Peter 2:24-25 “24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.” – [Healing is a past event].
These is no scripture of God providing any future promise for healing, God provided healing in the past when Jesus died on the cross and so if we are sick we need present healing by what Jesus did on the cross. God is waiting for us to come into agreement with his word and wants all of us to have a renewed mind and speak words that bring life.
Praying a prayer like this brings us into full covenant agreement to the promise of God for healing…
– CORRECT APPROACH TO GOD IN PRAYER FOR HEALING –
“Lord I thank you for healing my body [past tense], because of the blood that Jesus shed on the cross for me. Thank you Father for sending Jesus to save and heal me of all sicknesses and diseases, I receive your promise of healing in my body by faith. I speak and confess that I am healed by faith because of the stripes that Jesus took on the cross for me. – Amen”
You can pray in faith any of the promises of God and they will come to pass when prayed in faith. The words you pray must be made in faith because you believe and come into agreement with the word of God. Your prayer must be made in FAITH with full confidence in God and His promises found in His word. – Any Promise that God has already given us!
1 John 5:14-15 “14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”
Your prayers must be made in faith no matter what you see or feel. True faith will stand on the promise of God no matter what one may see, feel, or experience because they are relying on what God said and not what they see or feel. Faith is a lifestyle for believers and not a one time experience to see what might happen in life.
Romans 1:17 “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.“
Don’t waist your time praying prayers that will not get results because of unbelief and doubt to the word of God, pray. Begin speaking prayers that align with what God has already said in respect to any of His promises and you will have what God said.
Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
Unbelieving prayers void of faith will block and hinder your prayer life and the promises of God. Because your mind needs renewed, you must war in your mind against any thoughts that contradict the word of God until your understanding and faith if in complete agreement with God and His word. This is done by speaking what God said. Faith comes by hearing the word of God so begin speaking the word of God aloud and your faith will grow! Hearing a not a one-time event, it is a continual event so speak the words and promises of God aloud so you can hear and faith for the promises of God will come!
Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
The words you speak are the words that are stored in your heart and mind and whatever words that you speak will either bring the promises of God and life, or they will bring destruction if you do not speak what God has promised. The words you speak are either inspired by God who is life, or Satan who is death. The words you speak bring blessings from God, or curses from Satan.
