Our Foundational Belief
At Open Heaven Christian Church, we believe there is no greater work entrusted to the Church than proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that men, women, and children may be saved. Preaching Salvation through Jesus Christ is our highest mission and vision; fellowship and discipleship are important to us, and we value reaching the lost as our highest goal and mission for the community’s existence above all else. Everything else is secondary to Salvation because Jesus died to save the lost and offer them eternal life.
Every ministry has value.
Worship glorifies God.
Prayer invites His presence.
Bible study matures believers.
Fellowship strengthens the family of God.
Giving supports the work of the ministry.
Missions carries the Gospel to the nations.
But all of these ministries begin with one essential truth:
People must first come to Jesus Christ.
A person cannot be discipled until they have been saved.
A person cannot grow spiritually until they have been born again.
A person cannot serve Christ until they first belong to Christ.
For this reason, the salvation of lost souls is the heartbeat of our church.
The Great Commission Is Our Mission
Before Jesus ascended into Heaven, He left His Church with one supreme assignment.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you…”
(Matthew 28:19–20)
This command was not given only to pastors, evangelists, or missionaries.
It was given to every believer.
Every Christian has been called to be a witness for Jesus Christ.
Evangelism Is Not One Ministry Among Many
Many churches organize evangelism as one department among children’s ministry, youth ministry, music ministry, or outreach.
We believe evangelism is much greater than a department.
Evangelism is the lifeblood of the Church.
It is woven into every ministry.
It shapes every sermon.
It influences every prayer.
It guides every outreach.
It motivates every missionary effort.
It gives purpose to every Bible study.
Everything we do should ultimately point people to Jesus Christ.
The Biblical Order
God has established a divine order for bringing people to salvation.
Romans 10:14-15 teaches:
“14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”
People are sent.
They preach Christ.
People hear the Gospel.
They believe.
They call upon the Lord.
They are saved.
Without someone proclaiming the Gospel, people cannot hear.
Without hearing, they cannot believe.
Without believing, they cannot be saved.
The Gospel must be preached.
Salvation Is More Important Than Church Growth
Our goal is not simply to fill pews.
Our goal is not to increase attendance.
Our goal is not to become a large church.
Our goal is to faithfully proclaim Jesus Christ so people can be saved.
If God blesses that faithfulness with numerical growth, then all glory belongs to Him.
A church may grow because of programs.
A church may grow because of personalities.
A church may grow because of entertainment.
But lasting spiritual growth only comes when sinners are born again through faith in Jesus Christ.
The greatest miracle is not a growing church.
The greatest miracle is a transformed life.
The Pattern of the Early Church
The first-century church did not grow because it possessed better buildings or better marketing.
It grew because the Gospel was preached with boldness by believers who were bold enough to declare the gospel to the world.
Acts 2:47 declares:
“…And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
Notice who added to the church.
The Lord did.
Notice why He added to the church.
Because people were being saved as a result of believers going out into the world preaching that Jesus is the way!
God grows His Church through salvation.
Every Believer Is a Missionary
Every follower of Jesus Christ represents Him wherever they go.
Whether at work…
At school…
At home…
Online…
In the grocery store…
Or across the world…
Every believer has opportunities to share the hope of the Gospel.
We believe the Church gathers for worship but scatters for ministry.
The mission field begins wherever God has placed us.
We Measure Success Biblically
While attendance, finances, buildings, and programs have their place, they are not our primary measure of success.
Instead, we ask questions such as:
Are we faithfully preaching the Gospel?
Are people hearing the truth of God’s Word?
Are souls coming to Christ?
Are believers growing in holiness?
Are disciples making disciples?
Are we reaching those who are far from God?
Faithfulness always comes before numbers.
Our Commitment
As a church, we commit ourselves to:
• Preach the Gospel without compromise.
• Exalt Jesus Christ in every service.
• Teach the whole counsel of God’s Word.
• Pray earnestly for the salvation of the lost.
• Equip every believer to share their faith.
• Support missions at home and around the world.
• Welcome every sinner with the love of Christ while calling all people to repentance and faith.
• Celebrate every genuine conversion as Heaven celebrates it.
Why This Matters
Healthy churches are not built merely by better organization.
Healthy churches are built as Christ saves people through the preaching of His Gospel.
As new believers are saved:
Discipleship has someone to teach.
Ministries have people to serve.
Leaders are raised up.
Families are transformed.
Communities are changed.
The Kingdom of God advances.
Everything begins with the Gospel.
Our Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Give us hearts that burn with compassion for the lost.
Help us never to become satisfied with comfortable Christianity while people around us perish without You.
Fill us with the Holy Spirit.
Open doors for the Gospel.
Give us boldness to proclaim Your truth with love and grace.
May Open Heaven Christian Church always be known as a church where Jesus Christ is exalted, the Scriptures are faithfully preached, believers are equipped, and lost souls find eternal life through faith in You.
May every ministry, every service, every outreach, every conversation, and every act of love point people to the cross of Christ.
